New Requirement Takes Effect with Summer 2017 Scholarships

Doyon Foundation recently reduced its part-time credit requirement from six credits to three credits. The new requirement will allow even more students to qualify for a basic scholarship.

The new requirement takes effect with the summer 2017 scholarships. Wednesday, March 15 is the deadline to apply for a basic scholarship for the summer semester. Students planning to attend school this summer are encouraged to apply for an $800 scholarship for part-time students or $1,200 scholarship for full-time students.

Students needing computer access are welcome to come to the Foundation office at the Doyon Industrial Facility, 615 Bidwell Ave., Suite 101 in Fairbanks. Foundation staff is happy to answer any questions or provide any help students may need during the application process.

  • Submit your most recent official transcripts if this is your first term in academic year 2016 – 2017. (If you have already submitted your official transcript for 2016 – 2017, you can send in unofficial transcripts.)

Thinking about attending college or vocational school in spring 2017? Would you like some help paying for it? Then read on!

Doyon Foundation is offering basic scholarships ranging from $800 for part-time students to $1,200 for full-time students for the spring 2017 semester. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, November 15 at 5 p.m.

Basic scholarships are awarded to all eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to apply early!

To qualify for a Doyon Foundation scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled to Doyon, Limited or be the child of an original enrollee.
  • Be accepted to an accredited college, university, technical or vocational school.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA (see the Foundation website for details).
  • Be enrolled in a minimum number of credits (see the Foundation website for details).

Foundation scholarship applications are only accepted online, and students must create an account in advance before applying. Detailed instructions are available on the Foundation website.

Applicants who need computer access are welcome to come to the Foundation office at the Doyon Industrial Facility, 615 Bidwell Ave., Suite 101 in Fairbanks. The Foundation office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

We’ll be awarding competitive scholarships, which range from $5,000 to $9,000, as well as basic scholarships, which are $800 for part-time students and $1,200 for full-time students.

Competitive scholarships are awarded through a competitive review process, while basic scholarships are awarded to all students who meet the eligibility guidelines and submit a completed application by the appropriate deadline.

  • Create an account if you don’t already have one. It is highly recommended you create an account at least two weeks prior to the application deadline, as the shareholder verification process can take up to three business days.
  • Log in.
  • After successfully logging on, click “students,” then select “Scholarship Apply/Review/Edit.”
  • Pick a scholarship by clicking “apply now.”

In addition to the competitive and basic scholarships, we also offer short-term vocational and advanced college credit scholarships. Applications for these are accepted year-round.
